CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
LIVE ART COMPETITION BRAMPTON

The Live Art Competition in Downtown Brampton is back for its 4th year. The Live Art Competition Committee invites artists to come and be inspired by the heart of Brampton. Artists will have the chance to connect with other local artists, and the community as they paint live.

  1. The competition is available to all artists 18 years and older who live in Ontario, Canada.
  2. All applicants must submit a completed Application Form and pay the required fee. Application forms are available online at http://liveartcompetitionbrampton.com/#register, or (in print) for pick-up at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA), 9 Wellington Street East, Brampton. Payment may be made online through the provided link or by cash, credit or debit at the Visitor Service Desk. Artists can register for the event for an entry fee of $25.00, until Friday, August 10, 2019. This fee is required and is non-refundable. After August 10, registration is $35.00 until the day of the event, while supplies last. The fee is required and is non-refundable.

PAMA, Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives, located at 9 Wellington, St. E., Brampton, On L6W 1Y1, 905-791-4055. Cash, Debit and Credit are accepted at this location.

  1. This event is a rain or shine event, please come prepared in case of inclement weather.
  2. Artists may use any subject matter in Downtown Brampton as inspiration for their work. All genres are welcome. A map of Downtown Brampton showing the boundaries will be provided to all entrants.
  3. One standard 16″x20″ canvas or one 140’ watercolour paper will be provided to each registrant on the day of the competition. Only those canvases/papers provided by the competition committee will be eligible for judging.
  4. Artists are responsible for bringing their own equipment and materials, including paints, easels, chairs, stools or anything needed for your creative process. Artists working in watercolour will need to provide a mat and support for watercolour paintings. Please bring protection (i.e. drop cloth) for surfaces at the location of your preference. Please come prepared to work in outdoor conditions.
  5. No frames will be allowed on pieces submitted for judging. Artists working on watercolour paper must provide their own mat and support.
  6. Schedule of events:
    1. Registration 9 to 9:45 a.m. at PAMA – 9 Wellington Street East, (1 block south of Queen and Main).
    2. Canvas and paper will be handed out at 9:45 a.m. to those artists who have already checked in at the registration desk.
    3. Submission – Artwork must be submitted back at PAMA no later than 1:00 p.m.
    4. Judging – will take place between – 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    5. Public is invited to view the artwork from – 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at PAMA.
    6. Public Community Canvas Painting Activity and workshop – 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Live Art Brampton tent located outside the offices of the BIA (Business Improvement Association) during the Farmers’ Market. This tent is located at 76 Main St N, Brampton
    7. Closing Ceremony & Prizes Awarded – 2:00 p.m. at PAMA.
  1. The winners will receive:
  • Oil /acrylic on canvas – First Place: $800.00
  • Oil /acrylic on canvas -Second Place: $400.00
  • Oil /acrylic on canvas -Third place: $100.00
  • Watercolour – First Place: $800.00
  • Watercolour -Second Place: $400.00
  • Watercolour -Third place: $100.00
  1. Jurors: Three (3) jurors with will be judging this event.
  2. The jury will select 10 of the submitted artworks for display at the following location:
  • Beaux Arts Brampton from August 28 – September 14.
  • Beaux-Arts is located at 70-74 Main Street North, Brampton beaux-artsbrampton.com. During the 3 week display period, the public will be invited to vote for a “People’s Choice Award” and enter their choice in a ballot box located in the gallery.
  • A reception for the artists, their family and friends will be held on September 12 at Beaux-Arts from 7:00-9:00PM. The People’s Choice Award will be awarded at the reception.
  • NOTE:  All works selected for display must be picked up by September 18, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Beaux-Arts Brampton.
  1. John Cutruzzola, Inzola Group, Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA), Partners and Supporters will not be responsible for loss or damage on any artwork.
  2. Artwork and Artists names may be published on the Live Art Competition Brampton, PAMA, or BIA website and used on social media by the same, including Partners and Supporters. Photos taken during the competition and at the reception of artists and artwork will only be used for marketing and promotional purposes. The artist retains copyright over their artwork. Images taken by the Live Art Competition Committee will not be used for resale.
  3. Artwork made during the competition can be sold by the artist, after the work has been submitted and judged. If a piece selected as one of the 10 chosen for exhibition is being sold, we ask that the artist arranges for completion of the sale to take place after the exhibitions are completed on September 16. The Live Art Competition Committee, partners and supporters do not take commission from the sale of an artwork.
